Amnesty International Ireland is no longer independent

 

Amnesty receives massive funds from US corporations.

If you read the website of Amnesty International Ireland you will note that it is stated on the website that to ensure its independence Amnesty International Ireland, does not seek or accept money from governments or political parties for their work in research and campaigning on human rights abuses.

They state that they depend on contributions from their members’ donations and fundraising events.

No mention is made, of course, that Amnesty International Ireland is in receipt of massive funds from US corporations, who clearly have an impact on their policies. It is interesting also to note that none of the grant applications are available online showing what work Amnesty receive for these massive sums of money, what strings are attached?

Of particular note is the donation from Open Societies Foundation. This was revealed in a document titled ‘Open Society Justice Initiative Proposed 2014 Strategy’ and was part of the huge cache of leaked documents released by DC Leaks from George Soros’ Open Society Foundations.

The Open Foundation was founded by George Soros, who continues to chair it, and is one of the world’s richest people. Soros is providing financial backing to organisations such as Amnesty International Ireland to pursue his agenda.

It has been reported that the funding by the George Soros’ Open Society Foundations is the now the subject of an investigation by the Standards in Public Office Commission (SIPO).  The blaring abuse of the law in this area was no doubt the subject of much concern to members of the public and SIPO.

Amnesty International Ireland also operates another entity for which they have charitable status, Amnesty International (Ireland) Foundation (charity number CHY 05890). This is not a limited company. There is a lack of distinction between this charity Amnesty International (Ireland) Foundation and Amnesty International Ireland proper and little effort is made by Amnesty International Limited to distinguish between the political campaign group and the charity.

Amnesty International (Ireland) Foundation has received massive sums of money from a US corporation Atlantic Philanthropies which you can see detailed below.

Are we really expected to believe that these US corporate bodies give such large sums of money with no strings attached?
